🚀 One Month Working on The Diary Of A CEO at Flight Studio 🚀 I’m about one month into my role as a Video Editor at Flight Studio. From editing clips (shoutout to Shane Winckworth) to trailers for DOAC under the incredible Anthony Smith (shoutout to Olivia Podmore and Timur Ahmet), it’s been a brilliant journey so far. 🔎 My key findings: - 100% People First: Steven often emphasises that every company is, at its core, a recruitment company. It’s not just about hiring the best but retaining them. At Flight Studio, the culture is truly world-class, and everyone is highly valued. I work with people who are the best at what they do, and they all have incredible attitudes. - Fully Data-Driven: Every decision is meticulously backed by data, there is no guesswork. Coupled with a culture of experimentation led by Grace Miller, this approach fuelled much of DOAC’s growth. - Unparalleled Growth: Flight Studio’s expansion rate is astonishing. It didn’t take long to realise I’m part of a rapidly evolving team and I was very quickly not the ‘new hire’! - SIAU (supportive is an understatement): The culture of support and teamwork here is exceptional. How I Got Promoted at Flight Studio in Just 4 Months 🚀 ✨ 142 days ago, I joined Flight Group as a Clips Editor creating content for social. Fast forward to yesterday – I was officially promoted to The Diary Of A CEO's first in-house Motion Designer 🙌 👉 Here’s the catch: They weren’t looking for a Motion Designer. They created this role because they saw the value I bring and how I elevate our content. In just a few months, I’ve had the opportunity to: ➡ Work alongside Anthony Smith to take our trailer animations to the next level with 2D and 3D elements that build worlds and add a new dimension. ➡ Collaborate with Jack Sylvester to experiment with B-Roll in our long-form content. ➡ Create custom pop-ups to highlight our products and sub-goals. ➡ Work with Will Lindsay-Perez on new formats and exciting ideas. ➡ Experience a personal growth I didn’t think was possible. I’m beyond grateful to the Flight Studio team for fostering a culture that encourages growth and excellence. Is storyboarding always necessary? Even for an 8-second animation? 🔍🎨 For today’s The Diary Of A CEO trailer, we had the chance to tell parts of Alex Hormozi’s incredible story through animation. Here are three things that stood out: 1️⃣ This was some of our first fully custom B-Roll. Most of our work includes at least a couple of pre-made assets—not this one. Everything was built from scratch. This was a brilliant opportunity for creative freedom and to personally stretch my design skills. 2️⃣ Storyboarding changed everything. These sequences needed to be simple and impactful. Planning them out in advance gave us clear direction and a strong narrative. Going through the story with Anthony Smith at the beginning of the project allowed him to clearly lay out his vision for the trailer. 3️⃣ Story > Tech. As always, story and narrative took priority over tech and design. Being clever is great, but story is what draws emotional connection, not fancy visuals. Do you storyboard your animations? How closely do you stick to your initial designs?

It was a drizzly, April evening. I was about to go to sleep - but something stopped me. At the time, I was wading through the world of social media. I loved it. But I had an itch. A tug from a lifelong dream I’d never quite gone all in on. Haunted by the fear of being good, but nothing special. I had a 5 year old daughter, a wife, a family that depended on me. A lot to lose. But if not for myself, then for them, it was time for a course-correction. I had plans. Maybe I would go freelance. Maybe I would start an agency. I applied for lots of in-house jobs editing and being creative. I was throwing eggs at a wall expecting them not to crack. I paused, prayed, rethought my strategy and targeted 1 team. Two DMs to two people who would soon become two of my closest friends, to join a team that I would call family number two. A year later, I write this with a level of gratitude I can't quite explain. To the FLIGHTSTORY team who've invested in me, Jack Sylvester, Anthony Smith, Berta Lozano, Olivia Podmore, Anna Fletcher; and to Steven Bartlett, Georgie Holt and Christiana Brenton for manifesting a culture where people can truly thrive.
