A simple top tip for any creative professional early in their career... 🚀
We've heard of: 'Fake it untill you make it'.
👉 Try this: 'Create it untill you make it (and then probably keep going)'.
One of the best things I found to do early in my career was to produce work for companies I knew I had no shot of working with.
Why?
It would get me into the mindset of excellence.
A few years ago, I made the piece below with the McDonald's logo on it.
In reality, it's a simple motion graphic that allowed me to practice some simple keyframe animation.
But it FORCED me to up my game, to produce something that I thought would be worthy of a simple looping screen in a Mcdonald's.
Did it get me a job with McDonald's? Nope.
Was it one of the first pieces I made that I was proud of? Yes.
Do I see flaws? Yes, but this was the start of the journey 🍔
Create it until you make it.
i'm lovin' it.
